Our latest instalment of the Meet The Team series sees us take a look at another physio from the Birmingham clinic…everyone, meet Kieran McMahon!

Every few weeks, we’ll showcase a different member of our squad across the network of clinics and help you get to know them a little better.

Why did you choose to go into physiotherapy?

As my rugby career started to advance, so did the amount of injuries – the speed at which my physio at the time was able to assess, diagnose and treat the various injuries with ease fascinated me. The human body has always intrigued me and with my love for sport, it seemed a perfect marriage for me to investigate further…and now we’re here!

What areas of physiotherapy have you worked in?

After university, I went straight into private practice, helping to deliver services for medicolegal (i.e. road-traffic collisions) and general domestic injuries and conditions. As my experience improved, I was able to better support employees through Occupational Health services and more complicated traumatic injuries; approximately five years ago, I began working in professional sport as Head Academy Physiotherapist at Wakefield Trinity, before taking up posts at Worcester Warriors Woman and now at Severn Stars Netball.

If you were a biscuit, what would you be?

Borders Dark Chocolate Gingers (if you know, you know!)

Do you have a favourite quote?

“The grass is greener where you water it.”

(Unknown)

What has been your greatest personal achievement?

To be in the fortunate and privileged position of being able to make a meaningful and positive change to someone’s quality of life.

What is your mantra?

Better Never Stops

Most pointless talent?

Being able to hold a can on the palm of my hand upside-down to pour (old bartender tricks die hard).

What are your simple pleasures?

Coffee. Ambient background music. Good company.
Preferably all at once!

You’re cooking for three dinner guests – who would they be and what would you cook?

  • Dave Grohl
  • Rod Stewart
  • Gerry Cinnamon

Gotta be a steak night with some beers and a bit of poker for dessert!

Thanks Kieran! Check back in a few weeks’ time to see the next Meet The Team candidate!
